Monday, December 18th, 2006

Blog submission used to be as simple as providing a URL, sometimes an email address, and being done with it.

Now, spammers are trying to take advantage of a good thing, and causing some real issues. To give you an idea, to acheive 1500 entries on our site, we’ve had to sift through 48000+ spam submissions. It doesn’t take much to realize that some entries we just delete and don’t even give a second chance to. Are we just being mean? Not if you can follow a few basic rules.

Some tips for submitting your blog (or websites) to any online directory.

  • Don’t keyword stuff your description or title
  • If the site is not a RSS feed directory, DON’T submit your RSS feed. You’re just wasting your time
  • Keyword stuffed domains do raise a rather large flag to us
  • Avoid domains with hyphens in them. Spammers seem to be the only ones that use them. Best to not get labelled by association
  • Avoid numbers in your domain other than top10.com type entries. Noacne123.blogspot… just tells us what your trying to do
  • Adsense? If you dont’ have quality content and we see adsense starting to load. Forget it
  • Write quality content. Simple as that. If its keyword stuffed or link filled. No go!
  • DO fill in all the requested fields. A site with simple a URL may not be added unless you manage to grab our attention, and build a desire within for us to take time to write up a title and description for your site, instead of moving on to one of the other 40,000 submissions that were correctly filled out.
  • Learn to spel. proper gramer and speling go a long way to geting listed.

Its really as simple as 1, 2, 3
